Written by Pinky Savika

Addiction to alcoholism is now recognized as a disease. Millions suffer from it worldwide. Most of the time people try to hide signs of alcoholism. As an observer, take note of these following symptoms. If there are people in your house or neighborhood you suspect to be alcoholics, knowing these symptoms will aid in recognizing and help them.

1. Alcoholics become forgetful. They can't recollect past events properly and with time may suffer from black outs.

2. Addicts can't stay away from alcohol especially at those times in which the person is accustomed to drink. When they do not get it, they become offensive, irritated, and anxious.

3. Alcoholic people do not like talking about their problem. Any step taken towards discussing their problem makes them behave abusively or offensively. Suddenly, a wall comes down and it is really difficult to pierce that.
4. An increasing sign of alcoholism is their becoming over dependence on drinks. At parties, get together's, or homes, they simply can't resist the idea of drinks and they consume to the fullest.

5. Most alcohol addicts suffer from poor professional performance. They turn up late for work and lose concentration. Some even start drinking in office and may try convincing their colleagues into the same behavior. With time, they become jobless and dependent on family members for daily sustenance.

6. Apart from professional havoc, they also lose interest doing their hobbies or favorite pastimes. Earlier when the person used to be fond of watching films in theater now considers sitting at home drinking as a more viable option.

7. A sure shot sign of alcoholism is drinking alone. They begin to make excuses for spending time alone and drink, whereas their family members are oblivious of this activity. When questioned, they turn angry or even accuse others for suspicion. Pinky Savika
