Did you know that it is actually possible to hypnotize someone without their knowledge? Well, it is. In fact, research has shown that people move in and out of hypnotic, or trance states, multiple times daily, - especially when they are doing a repetitive task. If you are in a situation where you absolutely must get someone to agree with what you want in order to successfully implement a plan, I recommend you take the following steps:
1. Get The Undivided Attention of Your Subject
When you are trying to hypnotize someone, the first thing you have to do is to make yourself and your voice the focal point of their attention. There are a lot of misconceptions about hypnosis, and one of the worst is that the subject has to be in a relaxed state. The subject needs to be in a state in which they are concentrating on what you, the hypnotist is telling them to the exclusion of everything else around the two of you.
2. Build Rapport with the Subject Through Primary Agreement
Even if the two of you are as different as night and day, it is absolutely essential that you find a meeting-ground that you can both agree upon. Whether it is about work, politics, religion, or family, you must find something in common about which you share the same opinion or outlook. Once you have established that you agree completely with them on this particular subject, you will have created a trust factor that is absolute. This will put the person into a situation whereby they are ready to agree with your next statement, even if it lacks, for them, the absolute clarity of the previous one.
3. Discreetly Begin to Mirror Their Gestures and Mannerisms
I say discreetly, because while this is one of the most powerful steps to use when you want to hypnotize someone without their knowing it, if you are not discreet, they will become consciously aware of what you are doing and will conclude that you are mocking them. This will break their concentration and make it doubly hard for you to begin again. Think of yourself as a mirror that reflects an image a couple of seconds after the original one.
4. Give Them a Compliment
It is natural for humans to react positively to praise, and to be open and receptive to listening to anything else the person who has praised them has to say. Praise creates an environment of trust, and will increase your rapport with the subject.
5. Slowly Begin to Nod Your Head as You Tell Them Your Hypnotic Command
The physical action of nodding your head in agreement with what you are saying invariably causes the subject to follow suit, - and they will begin to nod their head in agreement with you. In a manner of speaking, they will be mirroring you.
These 5 steps may take a bit of practice, but in my experience they have been proven to work, and work quickly. Bea Magnan |
